Where to Buy | Wedding dress shops to suit all styles and budgets

Wedding Planning

No matter where you live across Canada, bridal salons are plentiful and varied. Even with all the choice, wedding dress shopping can still be frustrating for discerning brides looking for something unique, taking them from shop to shop.

A word from the pros: Keep an open mind! Even if you have a particular style in mind, be open to trying on different styles and don’t be afraid to ask for support. Bring friends and family to fittings and be sure to work with boutique staff who can help with time-saving recommendations.

“It's very common for a bride to think she knows exactly what she's looking for, but then fall head over heels in love with something completely different," says Emily Milardo of Vancouver’s Union Bride, "Try not to let what you think you'd always wear cloud how you feel in another style of dress. Come in with an open mind!”

ONLINE | PREOWNED & BESPOKE

Bespoke Wedding Gowns: Starkers Corsetry

Corsetiere Dianna DiNoble works with brides in-person and online to create a custom, one-of-a-kind bespoke corset gown that fits perfectly! The entire process take up to four months and although requires a little more work on behalf of the bride, is quite streamlined.

The bride sends measurements and chooses fabrics and embellishments which are crafted into a mock-up that is sent out for fit. Once this is mailed back to Dianna, she works on the finished product and sends progress photos along the way.

Gowns typically range anywhere from $850 for something more streamlined and satin to $3000 for hand woven silk, with crinolines and hand stitched beadwork. All fittings and alterations are included.
