Top Five Honeymoon Destinations To Escape The Canadian Winter
Heat Things Up At These Dreamy Honeymoon Destinations
Are you on the search for the perfect tropical honeymoon destination to escape the chilling Canadian winter? Here are five of the top honeymoon destinations to do just that. Spend your days in the warm sun and blue waters and leave the winter behind!
1. Bali, Indonesia
Nicknamed the “Isle of the Gods,” Bali is the ultimate honeymooner romance playland. It is so gorgeous and the adventures are endless. If you had more of a relaxing honeymoon in mind, that wish can come true too.
Where to stay: Bali has countless resorts geared toward honeymooners, ranging in price from very budget-friendly to quite lavish. The Kupu Kupu Barong Villas and Tree Spa in Ubud provide you with a relaxing jungle getaway. If you are searching for ocean views to experience romantic sunsets, go for the Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. Let’s just say neither will disappoint.
Things to do: It all depends on where you chose to stay, but you could even rent a motorbike and explore the whole island, staying in different accommodations each night. It all depends on the type of couple you are. You must visit at least one of the temples while in Bali. The Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple is amongst one of the most well-known and popular temples to visit. It sits atop a 200-foot cliff over the Indian Ocean. You will be in awe of the beautiful architecture and surrounding landscape. You must stay for sunset with your loved one!
2. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Picture this: crystal-clear aqua waters, majestic mountains, and white sandy beaches. Doesn’t get much better than that on a honeymoon.
Where to stay: The Conrad Bora Bora Nui is what you picture when you think of Bora Bora. It is the resort with the huts right over the water. Talk about a beachfront room. The Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora also has the same setup. Both are beautiful accommodations and offer honeymoon packages!
Things to do: You’ve got to go snorkeling to see the coral reef and colorful marine life. Jet skiing, scuba diving, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and tubing are some other water-fun activities available to you as well. Another great experience is to charter a helicopter to take you around Mount Otemanu!
3. Koh Lanta, Thailand
There are hundreds of islands in the south of Thailand, but Koh Lanta is one of the gems. It still feels pretty local and not as touristic as some of the others. You can stay in a room right on the beach for very little money and enjoy romantic beach walks every day.
Where to stay: Cha-Da Beach Resort & Spa is $54 a night and definitely worth more. If you are more of a spontaneous couple, we also suggest getting to the island first, finding a resort you fancy, and then booking that same day. All the accommodations are very affordable.
Things to do: Rent a motorbike and explore all the island has to offer. You’ve got to visit the local Klong Nin food market, Lanta Old Town, and spend some time at Lanta Animal Welfare. These are just a few different things to see and do, but there is so much more. Spend your days basking in the sun and warm, clear waters of Koh Lanta.
4. Tavarua, Fiji
How about honeymooning on an island shaped like a heart? Tavarua used to be a private island off the coast of Fiji and if you wanted to stay there you’d have to rent out the whole island, but good news, now it’s public!
Where to stay: Tavarua Island Resort is an all-inclusive surf resort and the only resort on the island. There are three different kinds of accommodation: the beach bure, two bedroom bures, and the “Tavarua Villa.”
Things to do: Tavarua is known for its world-class surf spot—Cloudbreak as well as its world-class fishing. Snorkeling and diving are also great activities to do during your stay. The island resort has tennis courts, beach volleyball, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, and countless other things to do. You will never be bored. You can also just choose to be a beach bum for the day and enjoy the stunning beaches.
5. Venice, Italy
The tourists all leave Venice in the months of the Canadian winter, so you’ll be able to escape crowds, find peace and relaxation, and most importantly, romance. Italy has always been a favorite honeymoon destination.
Where to stay: Arcadia Boutique Hotel and Hotel Colombina are highly recommended for honeymooners visiting Venice. The Palazzo Barbarigo Sul Canal Grande is on the higher-end and about two-times as expensive as the other two but your stay is promised to be very romantic.
Things to do: Take a gondola ride through the Grand Canal, sailing past historic buildings and enjoying an extremely romantic experience. A stroll around Piazza San Marco is breathtaking. You can also take a boat ride to one of the nearby unspoiled islands to escape the city if need be.
